Alternative investments

Alternative investments are investments in assets that do not correspond to traditional asset classes such as equities, bonds or cash. They include, for example, real estate, commodities, hedge funds, private equity and other specialized investment vehicles. Alternative investments are often used to provide diversification and potentially higher returns.
